I got my BFP!!

I have been meaning to post but have been putting it off until my second beta. My first beta came in at 442 at 10dp5dt and my second was 865 at 12dp5dt!! I am officially pregnant at 4 weeks 4 days. We are super excited and the anticipated birth date is nothing other than my birthday, May 19th!!

The first ultrasound at 6 weeks is next Friday. We can't wait to see what is going on in there and hopefully hear a heartbeat. No real symptoms yet. I seem to get really tired at the end of the day but I did have an organ removed two weeks ago, so who knows!

I feel relieved and less stressed, despite the roller coaster of a life the last two months, it has all been worth it. I just hope and pray that things progress on schedule and we have this very interesting story to tell our child someday :)

  5. Great, great, great news! That's so exciting...you are pregnant! I do have a question as I am about to embark on this journey, did you have more than one embryo transferred? My husband and I are planning to do a one embryo 5dt since it is too risky for me to carry twins. Also, when did you start your prenatals? I am so anal, I am trying to find the healthiest prenatals. Any advice will be welcomed. Thanks!AKS

Thanks everyone! Keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed that everything heads in the right direction.

Anonymous- We had two 5day embies transferred. However that wasn't the initial plan. I ended up spending the week before my transfer in the hospital. I ultimately had my gallbladder removed the day before the transfer. Based on the situation and the less than ideal environment we chose to go ahead with two.

As for prenatals; I started about 2 months before the transfer. I was on them throughout the whole ivf process. Good way to get your body ready and up the ante on folic acid. I actually am taking the prenatals that were prescribed from my RE. I do however also take a DHA vitamin. This is important in brain development. Most of my girlfriends continue the DHA through breast feeding as well. I use the Nordic Naturals Prenatal and get them online at www.smartbomb.com, so much cheaper than Whole Foods. Definitely check with your doctor first. Wishing you luck in your cycle. Do you have a start date?

  10. Hi Brooke, Thanks for your reply.

I just received my calender...boy is it confusing. I start my Lupron on 9/27 depending on my Progesterone levels on 9/21. Possible transfer is scheduled for October 31 (don't really like that date) maybe sooner depending how the embryos grow. I'd welcome your thoughts on the Lupron (20 units a day). What kind of side effects and is there anything your doing that helps with the side effects? Thanks so much for the input on the Nordic Naturals, I'm going to order them today! Again, I am really excited for you and your husband. AKS

  12. AKS,
I had hot flashes and cold sweats with the Lupron. Since your body is pretty much put in a perimenopausal state it mimics that of someone going through menopause. Some people get more symptoms, some less and some none. My migraines heated up a bit with the Lupron and I felt tired but really that was it. I wouldn't say it was easy, but I got used to it. I started acupuncture the second week of lupron and I must say I love it. I am continuing it now. Some studies suggest that acupuncture can aid in success rates for IVF patients. I jumped on that band wagon and I actually really enjoy it. I have been walking at night as well to keep active and not feel so sluggish. Trying to stay positive and busy is important. The journey can be stressful and emotional as I am sure you are aware, but also very exciting with anticipation. Glad you got the Nordic Naturals, those in conjunction with the prenatals make my hair and nails grow like wildfire. I also think my skin looks more dewy lately, who knows I'll take any good side effect these days. Don't worry about the transfer date focus on and envision a birthdate instead!!
